my highschool never gave detention for being late, we just got absences and tardies which restricted certain things like being allowed to go to prom and a priority in class selection

As a student at a private autism school, I can confirm the only reason I'm ever late is because I use paratransit services to get to school since we have no school buses and I cannot indulge getting driven to and from school, so sometimes the paratransit bus gets to the school at like 9:30 and my best friend from school's bio mom (who works for the school) has to check me the fuck in and if you're late as a paratransit rider of the school you do not get marked tardy which I like that :D
